no easy way to say it. zak and i broke up today, and that’s about that.
it was a year and a half in coming. we’ve played together for three years now … it’s difficult pulling things apart when you work with someone, are really close friends with them, and are also involved with them in other ways. we’ve tried various permutations of those three and none of them seems to work in ways that satisfy us both.
zak is looking forward to reenergizing his solo career and focusing on his relocation this fall to Portland, Oregon, where he used to live.
my plane from stansted to newcastle was a couple hours late, getting me a little after midnight. rod surprised me by sweetly greeting me at the airport and driving me to my hotel. that was awful sweet and he couldn’t have known how much i felt i needed a little extra help today. it was really sweet.
he’ll pick me up about noon tomorrow and we’ll drive to berwick. hope to get an hour or two of rehearsal tomorrow at some point as well, before our gig tomorrow night at the maltings theatre.
