A long last bunch of days. For how light a schedule I feel we’ve had, I feel exhausted.

Monday to thursday last week were mostly just continued rehearsals with rod.
This past Friday to Sunday was the southern fried Americana festival in perth, one of my favorite places. Not so much for the city itself, just the folks and local music and how I do very much enjoy Scotland and this festival...

Hiked a few miles Tuesday and another few with Steve yesterday in the late afternoon. Been really good to get out like that.
Had first rehearsal with Rod yesterday and went very very well. Very pleased with that!
Got emails from Evan Brubaker with first rough mixes on 8 of the new record’s songs. Steve heard them for the first time and grinned and said not to worry about...

It was an odd week, this past one. I was in the studio Monday and Tuesday, the 11th and 12th. Then I went south to Brush Prairie to visit my folks for Wednesday and Thursday. Then driving back to Seattle Friday, I stopped in Tacoma for my last studio day there. We had planned on working from 2 til maybe 5 or 6, but we ended up not getting done til about 11 that night...

It feels good to be back in the UK, particularly Scotland. I do so love the country and the people.
Played Celtic Connections on the next to last day of it, January 30, as a triple bill with Diana Jones and Karine Polwart. Accompanying me were Dave Keenan (mandolin, backing vocals) and Paul Elliott (fiddle). Was sure a good time!

We’ve played our set and eaten dinner and are now just waiting til the last act is done before we head to the hotel. You always wanna try to catch that last wave of folks leaving a festival, if you can. Those extra few cd sales really make a lot of difference at the end of a long tour.
